what would do think this would cost if i had all of the work done by some one else including sourcing the 13bt , as ive all but givin up on finding a clean hj or bj 60 , ive looked at a dozen trucks here in greater vancouver and vancouver island , and as far up as kamloops , i have seen a couple of nice gassers that can be had for cheap , and i would drive them and save up for the turbo diesel swap , if it was not too expensive . also recomendations for some one in the lower mainland to do the swap . thanks kevin .

A 1990 is a 80 series, so you would be best to put a 1HD-T into it.
Cost of that would probably be around $15K? Just guessing. Your engine/transmission are the expensive part.

As far as putting a 13BT into a 60 series?
Mabye $10-11K.

Those numbers are just a very rough guess.
Rob at Radd Cruisers is probly the man that could give you the best numbers.

A good clean swap will be quite costly. You will need an engine and tranny, plus electrical work and a few fuel system pieces. The exhaust will have to be completely re-worked as well, among other things.

Depending on the price of the donor parts and the quality level you're looking for, you could easily run up a bill in excess of $12 - 15K.

It may be best to source a complete JDM unit and go from there...

Is not too hard to do it yourself, more time consuming and of course you need somewhere to work for a month or so depending on your pace.
Doing it yourself woud halve the cost.
I would suggest you add a 5speed into the equation to get the best out of your diesel.
When you say a 1990 do you mean an 80 series or a rare 60 made in that year?
Some countries got them till 92.

Hi toynut

As well as Rob from Radd Cruisers...who would btw do you right...there is:

Ciaran Wilson of Cruiserland in south Langley. He has done a number of frame swaps from clean JDM frames under and into BJ60 cruisers, so knows engine mount and transmission mount issues when going from a non B-series frame to a B-series engine. He also has done a number of 13BT swaps and is aware of the issues and what it takes to get it done right.

We have sold drivetrains to customers of both these installers.

I'm doing it myself, and it's going to cost me about 8-9 grand, not including extras like turbos and all those goodies.

That's me locating and sourcing all parts, purchasing and shipping them, and doing all labor (including a whole engine overhaul)...

and like I said, that's before the extras like turbos and things.

Oh, that's US Dollars, too.

Add $3k or so for turbo and other optional accesories, plus some more for labor, and you're easily at the 15K mark before all is said and done.

What about impoting a body damaged complete 61 for a swap ? does any one here no of any one that would do this ? also would my 5 spd from my 84 60 mate to a 13bt with out much work ?
