Hey guys, I've asked my fair share of questions on this board over the past month, figured I might as well put together a build thread.

Background: Just got out of college, thought about buying a new 4runner or Tacoma, but then thought "why have a car payment AND not get a V8?"

So $6.5K later I bought this baby.
01 LC, 1 owner (well 2 if you count his son), 236K miles, great interior, and a southern US truck.

Before purchasing I took it for a pre purchase inspection. Few things needed to be done; Water/TB, CV re-boot, Fluids changed, alignment, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.

This is my second car, have an accord that I daily drive, but as I build onto this Rig, it'll naturally become my DD.

Have one pic so far, will update as I add stuff. Building on somewhat of a budget. First things are/were PM's/Repairs. Second a lift for the saggy suspension, and third some 33 KO2's. Going to use Ikarus's LX build as my inspiration (love the look of his rig).

Also, i'm located in Austin, I know there's a bunch of cruiser heads out here, so if any of y'all do any meetups/wheeling/etc, I'd love to get in on the action as a newbie, maybe even learn something from the experienced guys.

Thanks all!

North Austin by the looks of the pic.....love me some Flyrite! Welcome to the cult. Bunch of us here in Austin.

Few things:

Change Heater Ts ASAP! This is probably the MOST critical thing to do.
If rebooting, use the PFRANs clamps.
Use Toyota Red coolant.
Cranking torsion bars might help the saggy suspension a little as well as maybe put in 30mm packers on the rear....this would likely be just temporary until you get a suspension kit.
Check the valve covers to make sure the bolts are tight (4 foot/pounds is all they need). Very common to see these leak a little.
KO2s are awesome and 33" is often considered the ideal size (275/70/18). Though, I've considered going to 295/70/18 Coopers for 34"

@ikarus certainly has a SWEET build and one that is very good to emulate.

Finally, congrats on the rig!

Hey @geanes , shes currently at LC specialist for the VCG's and likely gonna get those Heater T's exchanged (thanks christmas bonus). Reboot was done by round rock toyota (i know, i know, but he gave me a good deal). Waiting on this tax return and then either an iron man or OME is gonna get slapped on. Costco has 285 KO2's for $196 per (set of 4) so that'll likely be my choice (plus you can sometimes talk em into penny installs like they do for michelins).

Also, saw you're in Round Rock, my old stomping grounds haha.

Anyways thanks for the advice and reply!

^^^this^^^ 33" will fit in the factory spare location. The LC Specialists will refer to IronMan as they've had some bad luck with OME lately. They tend to prefer the nitro shocks over the foam. But, @Austin Hot Shoe recently got the ironMan ProFoams from LC Specialists and likes them a lot. I drove his truck on New Years Day and must say, those ProFoams are very, very nice.

@Dwight S Noted, will do.
@geanes They did tell me to shy away from OME, I've heard great things about both, not to familiar with Iron Man, but from what i've heard, there stuff is very popular in Australia.

Guess it'll be a gametime decision for me. Price looks to be about the same given shipping on an OME or buying an IronMan locally.

You should consider ToughDog as well. They have been very well regarded. MetalTechUSA is a good resource for IronMan products.

Lastly, ditch the OEM keyfob and get the replacement from @suprarx7nut You will NEVER worry about breaking the head off another Toyota key again (they are very easy to break, especially as old as ours are). The one from YotaMD are absolutely awesome...and come in colors too. PLUS, you'll be supporting a great supporter of our Landcruiser community :)

Keep an eye on your new cv boot (and all the other ones) after you install the lift. May want to grab some @pfran42 cv boot bands as well as some led interior lighting, such a great upgrade for such little $

Tax Season update:

Uncle Sam gave me the green light so got some new shoes. 285/75/16 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. Also painted the wheels with some duplicolor and matte black clear coat. (Yes the new TPMS is unpainted, that'll have to wait til next week.)

I know it's been well documented, but the Wildpeak's are an awesome tire for an awesome price. Got these at discount for $160 a tire, far better than the $196 for KO2's. Put about 200 miles on em today highway driving and no humming, just smooth sailing.

Also went and added a few stickers.

Next big upgrade will be new shocks, springs, t-bars. Hopefully closer to the end of 2018, for now will attack some PM stuff month by month.

Lol I needed like 20lbs to properly balance my tires also

Nice ride! And welcome.

It has a great stance, Looks almost level (which is what I love). How well did it align with the stock UCA?

Thanks! The shop set it up with a 3/4 inch rake, which from what i'm told is less than factory.

Alignment wise it's is a bit off, nothing drastic, but I'm going to wait for some settling to happen and then see if aftermarket uca's are needed

I have SPCs on my 100 but my wife is running stock UCA on her LX470 which is lifted a little higher than mine via AHC adjust...

And to be honest. They feel the same handling wise with hers actually feeling better than mine???

Results may vary but yeah I think you have the right idea on waiting to see.

Looks great with the lift! I'm in Round Rock, if you're ever this far north I'll buy you a beer and we can talk 100s!
