I assumed that you were running the spacer on the fan clutch as delivered by Toyota. That wouldn’t allow you to run the stock fan and greatly reduce the ability to cool.

I perceived this as being a problem for you. Most people would like to confidently use their AC in hot weather.I couldn't stomach watching it climb beyond 213
What I’ve learned is that, with a healthy cooling system, pushing beyond 215 takes a lot more than getting to 215. And there is a reason Toyota cuts the AC off at 226 so run it until the AC cuts off automatically.I perceived this as being a problem for you. I didn’t mod my temp gauge and don’t use and OBDII thingy or anything else. Basically run blind and wait fir the numb needle to move. What I’ve learned is that, with a healthy cooling system, pushing beyond 215 takes a lot more than getting to 215. And you’re probably driving with less stress than most. I had someone text me recently that in 102+ degree temps sitting on blacktop idling behind other cars that their temp got up to 210 or something but came down on the 3 mile drive home. I told them to unplug the scangauge and just drive it. I think sometimes we have too much information and there is a reason Toyota put a dead spot in the gauge. Exactly. I pay almost manic attention to my scanguage. Until I forget to. Summer driving is different. Especially late afternoons, climbing, in the desert. What I’ve learned is that, with a healthy cooling system, pushing beyond 215 takes a lot more than getting to 215. if you had a brand new motor, you would probably be hesitant, too, to wait until the A/C cuts outI perceived this as being a problem for you. Most people would like to confidently use their AC in hot weather.

Yes, that’s it. Though if you look on eBay, you can find it for around $181, shipping included.
Mod the clutch. It arrives with oil that is well below what you need.I replaced the original black fan clutch with a new blue fan clutch. Drove to work and back on the highway doing about 70mph with the AC blowing (25 minutes each way). Ambient temp was 102F and I saw my temps rise to 225F and stay there (ECT on my ZF Scantool Toyocom). The AC continued to blow cold. I did not mod the blue fan clutch because I wanted to see the baseline. Will modding the clutch shave 20F off my temps, or do I need a new radiator?
Yes, A/C adds a load and additional heat. Nonetheless, it still needs to be addressed.Interestingly, I took the truck back out to run errands in and around town (30 total engine on minutes). Ambient temp now 104F. This time I drove around town sweating my butt off as I left the AC off. Even went to the local jiffy smog to get my smog test where I had to rev the engine at 2500rpm for a total of 4.5 mins (90 secs then again for 180 secs). My engine temp never topped 199F. Is it possible that my AC compressor is just creating so much drag that it alone is nearly overheating my engine?
