Cooler/Can Rack (1 Viewer)

I want to get started fabricating a rack for my 40. The P.O. had installed the tire to the center of the rig, leaving very little space to the sides. He also installed an attachment point that I need help with determining weight carrying capacity. I have pictures attached that show location from edge of tire to outside of fender well, approximately 16 inches. Can this point handle the weight of a cooler or two gas cans? One picture shows inside of tub where he added a plate. Any help would be appreciated.

I should have added that maybe his thoughts were along the lines of just installing the jack in that location. What do you think?

That attachment point...isn't that just a stock '74/earlier spare tire rack mount?

what kind of bumper is that? did you have to cut off the old bumper or does it just place over it?

I dont know, but somebody will. If it is, it should be plenty strong.

Came with the rig and its pretty damn stout. It has two 2''x2'' holes where a guy can insert sq. tubing and get creative. Maybe build a rack off of those.

That is the OEM upper hinge mount and backing plate for the factory tire carrier.
