As I have not decided which direction I am going to go with my navigation/audio system, I thought I would start another thread detailing how to go from an integrated center stack to a separate radio and climate control system. Attached is a picture of the goal. Unfortunately, Toyota does not supply a complete climate control panel. All the parts are to be purchased separately. I will be getting prices shortly. This will require the following parts.

55912A
88650B
84014E
55902C
55905A
84875A
84661A
84725D
84761
84791A
84731B

The above parts list will cover all items of the climate panel itself including all buttons. This list does not include the vents on both sides, or radio replacement.

The reason for starting this thread is I am considering replacement of my current 2006 LX470 radio with an alpine model that sports a 9" screen and supports front and rear cameras, integrated switch controls for auxillary items, navigaton, ipod, HDMI, steering wheel controls, etc... I would have to custom fab a trim panel to surround the radio. Attached is the Model X009 from Alpine I plan to use if I do not like the imported radio I will be receiving next week. (I hope)

Check Australia eBay you can find some of the parts there from vehicles being parted out.

I did buy the replacement but I just have this gut feeling it's not going to be what I expect. Just a hunch. I want to keep my options open. I got pricing back from Toyota. Approx 1800 for just the climate control and related parts. Still have to replace the vents on both sides. I may consider this option if the China unit doesn't live up to expectations. I would prefer to have dual zone video but I don't think the china unit will do this.

I'm definitely interested in the findings of this...both the required part numbers and the cost/availability/source of the parts.

You might also consider an android head unit on aliexpress which is custom size for 100 series so will look stock, and will be cheaper and have more features than alpine
