why not install carplay? I put an EC offroad unit in mine and it works great. I do wish the door cup holders were bigger and the center console cup holders better, but not that big of deal. My only real complaint I guess would be the rattling seat when no one is in it. (mine is a 2021) Anyone have a fix for that? I just returned from a 120 mile offroad trip, camping along the way. I loved how capable and comfortable it was offroad, and then i hop on the freeway for 8 hrs home and it's a deluxe ride there too.

Ehh, not a big enough of an annoyance to bother with. Like I said, those things are my biggest gripes and they are trivial at best hence why I said if those are my biggest complaints then it's a pretty fantastic vehicle overall. I do not have the headrest issue but I do struggle with the front passenger seat belt getting caught and rattling.

Hi guys I need a bit of advice.

I have a 2014 LX with 100,000km on it and the other day I went to pick up a half-beef order that I placed some weeks earlier. Upon arriving at the butcher I noticed my left-rear tire was a half PSI lower than the others, and my 3.5 years of spectacular vehicle ownership were instantly shaken by this travesty. As I loaded the 6 boxes of beef into my LX I noticed one of them had a tear, and I took extra care to ensure this box wouldn't flip over in transit and spill the meat on account of the half-PSI lower tire and lackluster cupholders. I then drove the 30kms back home and unloaded. So in conclusion, does anyone know whether Jake and Amy will eventually hook up on Brooklyn Nine-Nine?

#Lexusproblems I spend time on other websites and the issues I read about GM engines guzzling oil, new top ends at 80k miles, tranny failures, ac compressor failures. The list is long and distinguished. The LC isn’t perfect, but it’s damn close.

Agreed.

Jump on a Ford forum and you’ll find cam phasers, electrical gremlins and more. It’s sad but I don’t think American made autos will ever be what they were.

I have a 2012 f150 5.0 v8 never had an issue but I'm only at 70k, 2016 LC, 2014 ls460. The ford is now only my home Depot/Lowe's working on rental home truck. But have recently been thinking of selling and buying an enclosed trailer and just use the LC.

The 5.0 coyote engine may be their last great power plant, once they went to forced induction everything changed… and not for the better.

I’ll hold onto my Navigator until just before my extended warranty expires then replace it with something else to keep the mundane miles off our LC. Upon our death we are planning on having the LC go to whichever child can defeat the other in a series of battles of skill and tests of mettle, only the strongest is deserving of our example of the last 200 series.

Great is a strong word. “Ok” for an American company may be more palatable.

At the end of the day, the big 3 make junk. Period. Look underneath. Feel the interior. Ride in one. How are things routed? Exhaust directly under the transmission pan? Awesome. Electrical wires, brake lines, fuel lines just draped around the chassis? Cool. Thin metal, poor quality manufacturing, poor weld quality? Status quo. Small suspension components/arms/axles/toe rods, small bushings, small hardware, small frame with minimal bracing? Guranteed. Toyota builds trucks with balls where they matter - especially the Land Cruiser. It’s more HD than 3/4 and 1 ton trucks where it matters.

Rode in a 2021 F150 platinum today with a coworker and my 2007 4Runner with 225,000 miles feels more solid. American companies make disposable junk.

Is your last name Schrute? And how do you feel about beets, bears, and battlestar gallactica?

While all true……but Toyota is not without issues with excessive rust, even with our LCs. Tundra with C-frame mid to rear. Tacoma with drum rear brakes and C-frame. Tacoma and 4runner underbody have stuff hanging down low just asking to be ripped off. Payload and pulling power tend to be lower on Toyota vehicles vs. equivalent American products. My old Sienna had more rattles than a school bus!

This is a Land Cruiser forum.

With proper care, steel will survive salty winters. Ask me how I know.

This thread is funny.

I’ve always wondered how people who aren’t Cruiser-heads justify the cost of a 200 series. I’m a total fanboy so it makes perfect sense to me but a soccer mom? Maybe an LX because Lexus and it’s just money, right?

Land Cruisers are very purpose-built and I just don’t understand buying one if you’re not buying it for that purpose.

Well said. I’ve always felt the same way. If you are not going to use them for their intended purpose there are way better options.

But people buying them and then getting fed up that they don’t have CarPlay, have crappy cup holders, get dismal mpg, or drive like a sports car sell them which supplies many of the contributors to mud who would have never bought new.

LOL, don't be ridiculous, some of us can still wish that they had CarPlay and better cup holders while at the same time appreciating and coveting them for literally everything else. The bad fuel economy is a moot point because it's a Toyota and outside of maybe the Prius all of their vehicles suck in that department.

+1 on all that.

If I didn't regularly tow and head into the bush I'd be driving something else.

But I need:
- excellent reliability
- understated exterior and stylish, comfortable, reasonably modern interior
- enough electronics to be somewhat relevant, not so many that they are a reliability issue
- mechanically simple enough to DIY most basic tasks
- enough room for 4 adults and a large dog
- ability to tow 7000lbs when/if needed
- good off-road capability
- powerful enough to keep me engaged

There's virtually nothing else out there that meets this criteria. Maybe the new Sequoia.

Commence with the shamming because I had to google that reference.

Beets taste like dirt.
Bears are my spirit animal.
Battlestar Gallactica was just before my time, I take my Dirk Benedict as Faceman in A-Team.

On the upside, since you haven't seen The Office, you're in for a real treat (if you watch it)!

I just want a full size luxury SUV which is reliable and well built and engineered. Thats a 200. I can put up with the slow acceleration and lack of tech to get everything else.
