My good friend who I have trained jiu jitsu with for years has a 1993 80 series land cruiser for sale. It is a utah car with almost no rust but it has some oil consumption.

He just installed an OME 2.5 inch lift and a new radiator. It has 189k on it and I was going to give him 13k for it.

I am planning on fixing it up as much as possible as I have some experience tooling on cars.

I'm excited to learn and fix this land cruiser up. I'm reading the FSM in preparation and to become familiar with the engine design.

Glad to be here!

Price sounds fair based on general description and you should be able to manage just about any project if you are handy and have some tools.

Tons of great info here on the boards, and I've learned a LOT since I got mine last summer just by reading thought a little each day, you'll love the 80!

How much oil consumption?

The price feels a little on the high side to me, depending on what has to be done. The '93-'94 models have some extra appeal to some, though. I do feel like the '91-'92 are the most underrated, but they are definitely slower.

Yep I moved here from Utah recently. I'm looking for a local mechanic who knows land cruisers. I hope to do as much work as I can but I would love to find a competent guide and mechanic for the more skilled work and some guidance.

What would you offer? Unsure of how much oil. Will clarify the pesky heater hose, LSPV and consumption issues before I buy.

Last year, I got a 3x locked for $11k (they were asking $12k). Neglected, but not on a trail much. Haven't noticed any oil burning issues. Definitely some leaks. Interior/exterior decent.

The oil burning issue could be fatal or could be minor. Might be wise to check the plugs. For an FZJ, not 3x-locked (I'm assuming this one is not).

Congrats! I’m in Wichita. Just sold a low mile LX450 and kept mt high mileage 93 80. I like the 93-94 better. Hope to see some pics soon.

You plan to fix up-what’s wrong with it?
We need a phot
I don't have photos at the moment. I will post when I can. Working on getting Utah mechanic to look at it and do an inspection so I know what I'm up against. The owner will sell it to me first if I want it. I just have to decide.

This is where we all keep track of each other locally. We have a very active club.

Lots of talent here and help if you get involved.
