I have owned a FJ60, FJ62 and FZJ80 and now considering a JDM FJ60 with a 3F engine. Other than it being right hand drive, what kind of problems will I be getting into owning a JDM 3F Land Cruiser in USA?
Will parts be big issue?
Would I be able to add A/C to it? As steering wheel is on right, would I have to source A/C parts from a JDM vehicle or can I retrofit A/C from a US Fj60?
I might be moving to a non emission state so emissions shouldn't be an issue???
Should the MPG be about the same as the FJ60 and FJ62?
This will be a daily driver.

If your going to go JDM, why not go diesel? I wouldn't bother with a 3F unless it was a good deal or something, or a high roof....is it? And the a/c sounds like a PITA....never seen a 60 without it though...

If you're in love with it because it's a rarity and you want another toy to play with, then get it. But as your only daily driver? Hell no.
Why?
Ancient truck with zero parts available new or used in the USA. One little doo dad breaks and your cruiser could be down for a month or longer (or forever) as you wait with wringing hands for your shipment from the UAE or Japan.

Owning a 30 year old USA FJ60 in the USA is a headache enough. From what I've heard of an American cruiser guy who had a FJ60 in the states then moved to Australia & got a 60 series with the carbed 3F was that he wasn't impressed. He wished he got one with the 12HT diesel- but the cost was out the roof.

I agree with this statement for the most part. A carb 3F can be difficult to find parts for but it is not as bad as some make it out to be. All this coming from someone who currently has a (not a 60 series) cruiser with this motor. I drive mine 2-3 times to work and even took it camping last week so it performs as a daily driver for me but not without a lot of headaches in the beginning of ownership. It still remains to have minor hiccups.

Drive thrus....

You’d have less parts to service it than a 2F.

What exactly cannot be gotten for a 2F? Some Toyota parts are NLA, but Rock Auto carries many Aisin parts (water pumps, for instance). I drive my '78 FJ40 all the time and 2F parts availability are the least of my worries. 3F-E parts availability worries me more, long term.
