Got the seat mount welded up and the seats some what mounted today. Have to get some M10 nut setter so I can install the nut serts for the rear bolts for the seat mount. I will grab them tomorrow.

I am trying to figure out what seats to put in mine. If I go for factory buckets I am doing it this way. Did you cut the tool box out?

The tool box was rotted beyond repair, so yeah, I trashed it. This seat mount is really nice. I modified it and the seat brackets a bit to keep them as low and as far back as possible.

Seat frame is all welded and in bolted in. Had these Marathon seat covers that I took out of my '76, and figured, what the hell, beats spending $300+ for new seat covers from Sphincter offroad. I think they look pretty good against the Spring Green.

Everything is welded and ready to seam seal and I'm ready to paint the underside of the tub. Suspension is buttoned up and got the wheels and tires on. Tires were freebies from a friend of mine. New body bushings will go in when the tub goes on once more for the last time.

Out with the old bent up rear crossmember and in with a new one from BTB.

@CondeCruiser

How was the fit on the three pieces together … looks like you also got the angles with it … all three from BTB correct?
The fit was perfect. All three pieces are from BTB. Just had to use a ratchet strap to pull the frame together a bit for everything to line up. Angled pieces slid right into place.

Got the tub cleaned up and taped off. Color matched liner goes in tomorrow. Also, since I had no buyers for the hard top sides, I fixed the one that had rust. They will be getting some paint in the future.

Got the liner sprayed on. Its from Shop Source, which i got from R&E paint supply. They also mixed up the tint and I got 4 cans of spray bomb to touch up the patches to the body. Went pretty well. If I had to do it over again, I would roll it on for me eveness. The color looks a bit darker in the pics, but is actually really good up close

Pretty good paint match and patina fade match. Again, it's much closer in person. I'm happy.

That is awesome! Gives me some hope for the repairs on my 71 I'm planning.

Got the old clutch out today. Rear seal had I little bit of oil seeping, so I'm going to replace it since it's all opened up. The oil pan was a bitch to drop. I don't think it's ever been off. Got worried when I drained the oil and it had some gas in it, but remembered when I first got this motor it had some Holley 4bbl carb on it. When I fired the motor, it ran, but gas was pouring out of it down the intake. Cylinder walls look good from what I can see.

So my flywheel got ruined by the machine shop a week or so ago. Had to track down another and got it to another machine shop that knew what they were doing. Had a rain day at work, so I got everything back together today. Trans will go in Sunday and I'm going to hopefully fire the motor also. We shall see.

Got the trans and t-case installed last weekend and bolted the body down for the final time. May try to fire it up this weekend if I have time.

There is no better feeling than working on something for a couple years and finally getting to here it come to life. Still more to do, but nice to know I have hooked everything up correctly and that I wired the '78 ignition switch to the original '71 switch the right way. I'm smiling like a possum eating persimmons right now!
