So I've got a 1967 titled, 1966 built 40. 87,000 original miles. F135 2 barrel siamese intake (yes you read that right) with a '71 carb built by Mark A. The past couple of weeks I've been tossing around the idea of swapping to a 2f because I know when the F135 craps out internally there's no finding parts for it. Clutch has been on its way out since I bought the rig and finally went out tonight during a neighborhood cruise. So after being towed home, I thought I'd do a compression test since I have never taken the time to do so. This rig spent its whole life in the Texas hill country. It sat unmoved, in the Texas heat, from 1987 until I picked it up in 2011. Here's what my test yielded. Engine was @ operating temp and I tested each cylinder 3 times for consistency. FSM says 150 psi is optimal, 100 is bottom limit and acceptable variance is 14 psi between cylinders.

1: 150
2: 140
3: 145
4: 145
5: 145
6: 150

Needless to say, these results shocked me. I guess I'll slap a new clutch in the ol' girl and run it a little longer before making the swap. If only I could get it to run smooth and cut out the sputtering and bucking that I get now :bang:

Adjust valves, replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points...

Drain some gas into a glass jar and see if there's rust in there. Clean or replace fuel filter.

timing ?

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and points are all new. I do need to adjust valves. Haven't done that. I've got a glass fuel filter bowl so I can see what's going in. Tank was boiled and recoated inside and out but I have to admit there have been a few random pieces of rust coming into the bowl that I chalk up to small stuff that didn't quite get flushed out during the clean out.

This is next on my agenda.
