anyone mind walking me through what if anything special needs to be done for a compression and leak down test and what it would tell me? for some reason the shop that did the pre/purchase inspection talked me out of doing these and i am realizing i need to do them after the fact.

i’ve got a sort of idea of what it will tell me but i’d like to get a better handle on it.

also for some reason there seems to still be a debate as to whether leaving the bing carbs on my motorcycle (or not proppping ipen the butterflies on the carbs) is going to lead to lower values. so i’d like to verify nothing special needs to be done if i take it in for this test.

lastly (big question i know) but if i also get s blackstone report that tells me no metals and no copland and the wear on the engine is excellent for age and mileage can i reasonably expect that oil loss is due to valve seals?!

or is it also possible it is blowing out elsewhere with no obvious pooling?

noob here so try to be nice.

THANKS
