complete 3FE drive train pricing advice 2023 (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

Been dragging my feet on a fj62 project and was planning to replace the 3fe with something else (TBD) but would probably just pull and sell the drive train now to get it out of my shop.

My question is what the general going rate for a whole 3FE drive train?

The only pricing I can see on the forum is 5-7 years old. Have these appreciated since then? Depreciated? I'm looking at the classifieds section as well, so I assume that is a pretty good gauge of their current value.

FYI: over 390,000 miles on the engine, transmission is ~10 years old, t case ~5 years old, and I don't have compressions numbers since I disconnected everything so I am sure this will put me on the lower end of the pricing spectrum?

3fe engine, transmission, and transfer case from 1989 FJ62. 200,000 miles. It ran and shifted fine when I took it out. Just wanted something else. The vacuum actuator on the transfer case did break while being taken out. $1,250.00

Dang I’m trying to sell my 3FE with 190,000 miles, it has rebuilt trans and T-Case….. any idea what that’s worth compared to the non rebuilt? The PO spent 6 grand doing that. It must be worth more that 1200 bucks.

I’ve had my 3FE and A440 set at $750 for a while, not much besides a few people interested in parts.

34yo motor and 250k miles, not a huge market for that

generally they are worth more in parts than as a combo unit
but
you will be left with a bunch of stuff that you need to get rid of and it may take a while to sell it all.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting to install a used engine that has over 390,000 miles on it - no less buy one. Everything is worn out.
