So,
I've searched plus pulled the dash apart on both sides looking for the factory plug in order to install a proper Rheostat vs that crappy little light sensing pick up on ps side.
Because of lengthy road trips I must have this mod. and will also tie in tranny temp, egt and boost gauges lights into the system as well.
The little crappy dash sensor is a two wire unit but the wiring disappears under the dash pad.........ahhhhhhh!
I have a selection on rheo's in two or three wire configuration.
Any insight is appreciated because the next step is ripping my son's FZJ80 apart because I do not want to even contemplate taking the dash pad off.

In case you are bored the JDM's have whats referred to in the manual as a conlight. Cutting those wires and trying a rheostat did nothing...

Made progress by installing one rheostat for combination meter and another for aftermarket gauges.
Used "C" plug and #10 position for grounding through Rheostat for combination meter.
2nd rheo pulls ground through PO's aftermarket gauge wiring.
Looking forward to an all night rip soon.

You love a good night ride to meckes eh :deadhorse:
