Stace and I did a loop through Gunnison, Crested Butte & Montrose. So first..Beer News! Ska Brewing (FOOLISHLY) is retiring their ESB recipe. Sad.. But still my favorite brewery in Colorado. Also Carver lost their head brewer to Ft. Collins brewing taking his Oatmeal Nitro Pale Ale with him.. Damn... further drive. Gunnison High Alpine Brewing was a solid visit. Anthracite Amber, Stout, IPA- Pig&Fig Pizza Double Shot bike shop sells coffee and beer. Hartman Rocks is outstanding for hike, bike, climb and OHV -unfortunately no real 4x4 trails Gunnison Trails: Hartman Rocks - Travel Crested Butte What is this one Pappy? Broadleaf somethin?Kill Hill. Crested Butte- Thousands of dollars of bikes, just laying around on the ground... Stoners.... Eldo Brewing... sad food and sadder beer, 3 watery bland beers on tap and stoner service Pita in Paradise. Ska's Mexican Lager on Tap, good service and food. 4 mile bike path from resorts to town Montrose- I think Black Canyon may be the primary attraction to this area. 2 Rascals- nothing to write home about, boring, a notch below mediocre. Cool building though Colorado Boy- Takes the best beer of the trip with their ESB! Not surprising since they are carbon copies of Il Vicino. Horsefly Brewery- not an appetizing name but best overall beers! Fun service folks, generous with the samples, we didn't eat but it looked great and the folks next to us confirmed. Everything we sampled was great. Our fave was the Six Shooter Pale Ale but their Scottish was perfect and smokey, Tabano Red was also excellent. They print their menus as newspapers... http://horseflybrewing.com/PDFs/menu-2017.pdf CHEERS!
