>>>CLEAR CREEK TRIP January 28, 06. Meet at the Ultra Fuels gas station in the Harrison Hotsprings resort town site at 9:00 am sharp. Yes, that’s early, and the guys from Vancouver will have to get up pretty early to make it on time. Some hardy souls will camp overnight although most will only stay for the day. The plan is for everybody to take one plastic garbage can and a few bags, and we will clean up the garbage and broken beer bottles that litter the Clear Creek site. Clarence Giesbrecht has made up a sign showing we did the cleanup and we hope other visitors will respect keeping that way. If anyone has a chainsaw, bring it to cut firewood.

Please set this date aside for our first trip of 2006. Some of us will stay the night. Bill & I will be contacting each of you to confirm attendance. If we don't reach you, please post your confirmation here. We will advise on equipment needed (chainsaws, etc) and set up a task list.

Cheers,

Clear Creek Tasks & Gear

Hi gang,

Here is a list of cleanup tasks for Clear Creek:
1) Clean up broken beer bottles near hot tubs
2) Clean up unburned garbage & debris from camp fire rounds
3) Empty, clean, and refill tubs
4) Site garbage removal
5) CC signage placement

Equipment list:
Gargage bags
Plastic buckets
Rubber gloves
Shovels
Chainsaw (I will bring mine)
Brush on long handle (broom?)
Coastal Cruiser sign (somethiong like... "Welcome to Clear Creek. This site has been maintained by the Coastal Cruisers, a chapter of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association. Please have an enjoyable and safe visit. And remember to "leave no trace" for the next group of visitors.")

One day, it would be nice to have a special project for the site: camp site picnic tables made of logs, better fire pits, a second changing room, or the like. We can discuss this following our trip.

For those who camp over night, we'll need tarps, stoves, lanterns, maybe a BBQ.

If you have any suggestions, please ppst.

Thanks. I am looking forward to a great wheelin season. :)

What the Clear Creek site is in desperate need of is a s***house. Thats the most disgusting thing up there is all the paper flower blooms growing all over the place.
Sadly tho, if someone was to build one..some a****** would burn it the very next weekend.
And anyone who ever dares to venture offroad really needs to take a course in 'how to s*** in the woods'.. Its actually a real book to..funy eh?

Wow..im grouchy this morning..musta been the horrible commute this morning

Hi Jeff,

I thought of an out house. Then I thought of the ones at the forestry sites on Harrison Lake. No one cleans, hole fills up, crap on the seat, the floor, etc. Disgusting. And then there is the arson issue.

Oh well,

B

:ban: MMMM - now thats nice dinner conversation.... I heard of a guy who wrapped himself in a garbage bag and - oh never mind..... YUk!!!!:ban: :censor:

finally a club ride I can make it to. How is the clear creek trail is this pretty tame like hale creek or is it like sunrise easy trail with a few little suprises, water crossings Etc. I'm bringing a new navigator so I just wanna know what to expect on the trail.

All depends on how much snow is up there, if lots of snow, then it could be tough, but if there is none, then it is a pretty easy trail, a few minor wash outs, but real easy.
Cheers,
Deny

I'll be out of town as per usual, but thanks for the call, Bruce.

Like Deny says...snow will decide. When there is no snow the only reason to air down is ride. Cars could make it a year ago during the summer...

The clean up, a nice day outside, good company, and a relaxing tub would be the focus...unless there is lots of snow!

Have fun. I am working that night, so likely will not attend.

Wrench Monkey:
The road is easy except for one small creek crossing where you might scrape the rear bumper as you go down and then up. Just take it slow and you should be OK. I've seen Subaru Outbacks get through there ok.

Hi Gang,

Jan Hedmark and Angelica would like to participate. However, Jan's Cruiser is off road, not off roading. :)

Anyone have room for them? It would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bruce

Clarence Giesbrecht lives in Vancouver and is coming Saturday to Clear Creek and bringing friends in his HDJ81. He wants to know if anybody wants to rendevous at the truck stop beyond the East end of the Port Mann bridge and accompany him out to Harrison. He has no room inside his vehicle, but will convoy others on the way out. If you are interested, email him at:

I've just got a weather report that there may be some snow at Clear Creek this weekend. If you have chains, bring them. Gary Telford, with my VHF radio can lead the group, and Garry Brockling can take up the rear with his VHF radio, and we can communicate. Gary Telford also has CB and FRS radios as well. If the snow turns out to be too deep or icy, we can go back to Big Silver Creek for the day. If there is a lot of snow, we probably won't stay the night.

My kids may not come as they are committed to Soccer Tournaments this weekend, so I am flying solo, cept for the dog. If Jan and Angelica would like to jump in with me that would be awesome. We could do the switcheroo at the meeting place saturday morning. Note to Jan and Angelica - I am a "NEWBIE" you take your life into your own hands.... ;) you can PM me if you are interested or just reply on the post.

Is anyone interested in running some of "the old trail?" its short but its got some fun factor. I know Garry T is always into smashing up his truck :)

Hey Dan,
If there is a lot of snow, the trail up there will be a challange to whoever is leading, pushing the tracks will be tough if the snow is deep. Any one following will have it a lot easier. If there is a lot of snow, take turns hammering the tracks, because I remember wheeling a few times in deep snow with Derek, and we would always take turns so that we wouldn't over heat.
Cheers,
Deny

I'd be up for trying the old trail how much more fun is it?? this will be my first run upto clear creek. relatively stock BJ on 33's where do you start the old trail from Dan??

I am 98% sure I will be coming, I am going to bring my mom along with me in her Grand Cherokee. We will be a little behind though.. probably meet you guys up there. I will have my CB on CH 4.
