1988 FJ62. 222k miles

This Land Cruiser is a straight, rust-free Arizona vehicle. I purchased it in Phoenix in April 2014 and drove it back to Colorado. As far as I know, it has never seen snow or treated roads. I do not drive it in winter or crappy weather. Frame and axles are free of rust or rot and only have mild patina. No body rust whatsoever. Just a few rock chips in the front lower valence, otherwise, she's a 'beaut! Recently re-sprayed in factory white. There is no rust or bondo anywhere on the truck. The drivetrain has been swapped to a TBI 350 & 700r4 automatic from a 1994 Chevy mated to the stock Toyota transfer case. I was told by the previous owner that the engine/tranny only had 60k miles, but I have no documentation for that, so take it for whatever it’s worth.

The good:

-Runs, drives, starts every time. I would not hesitate to hop in and drive cross country (and I already have). Stock suspension is in good shape and tracks straight (a little bit of sag in the RR). All power windows work. Large aftermarket tranny cooler.

-ARB lockers front and rear (stock 4.11 gears). They have been tested off road and work like a charm.

-Rear full-floater axle

-4-Plus front bumper with Warn 9.5ti Winch (winch currently not wired)

-33” BFG tires with lots of tread, I would estimate 80-90%.

-Deluxe Ultimate Lockable Center console (4 cupholders!) or stock center console, you pick.

-Aftermarket speakers, stereo sounds pretty decent (will include '99 4Runner head unit or '96 LX450 head unit, your choice. Nothing currently installed, but wiring harness will accept aftermarket HU as well.)

-Trailer hitch and wiring

-Passed Colorado emissions with flying colors in Spring 2014

The not-so good:

-Interior could use some help: front carpet is torn around the shifter, at some point the door panels were replaced with crank-window door panels, so there are holes where the window cranks go. Dash panels are missing some screws. All upholstery is present and accounted for and in decent shape with the exception of a small tear in the passenger seat vinyl (not the fabric). The whole interior just needs a good cleaning, but is not bad at all (aside from the afore mentioned issues). I will give her a good deep clean if I have time.

-Grill and mirror "black out" is chipped up and needs to be redone (I will do this if I have time)

-Lokar shifter needs some adjustment (instructions available online). The gear indicator is a little off, so you need to shift “by feel.” It’s weird at first, but I got used to it to the point that I didn’t really feel the need to fix it.

-Engine has a stutter/stumble when partially warm. Runs fine when cold and fine when warmed up, but there is a brief time (maybe one or two minutes) when it will stutter while accelerating when it’s warming up. I replaced the plugs/wires, EGR, TPS, and that did not fix the problem. I’m sure someone with a little more GM knowledge can fix this with little trouble, but I am not a GM guy.

-Tcase wires have been cut so the 4WD dash lights don’t work, but 4WD and LO work just fine. I've been told this is the quick and dirty way to do the "2LO mod" on an FJ62.

-My wife says it’s too loud.

I got a Carfax when I bought it and it didn’t show any major concerns, but it has had (I think) 7 previous owners in Arizona. Some AZ mudders might recognize this truck. I am selling because it’s not quite civilized enough for my wife. We have an LX450 which I don't mind driving in snow or crappy weather, so the FJ62 doesn’t get much use anymore.

Price is $9,000 with the winch or $8,500 without the winch. Price is not 100% firm, but pretty close. I.e. Lowballers will be ignored, anyone who asks "how much will you take for it," will be ignored.

I'm hoping she can stay in the MUD community, so I'm posting here before Craigslist.
