Hello Mud,
I am selling my 1988 FJ62 with 202,000 miles on it. Bought it in 2009 and never planned on selling it. Drove away from our wedding and brought two babies home from the hospital in this truck. But life (and more kid friendly FZJ80, Sequoia, and Tundra) happens. This truck runs and drives well. See below for pros/cons as I want to be transparent about the bad things i know about. Fly in, go camping and wheeling, and drive home. I wouldn't be worried about driving this across the country. Asking $7,500 obo.
It has had the following done.
-Replaced the radiator in 2009
-Replaced the water pump in 2012
-Added transmission cooler
-Installed OME lift in 2011
-Replaced plugs and wires in 2011
-Installed a used ARB bull bar in 2012
-Rebuilt front knuckles with nitro burfields and new brakes with yellow stuff pads. 2015
-Oil changed with OEM filters and Rotella T 15w-40.
-brand new 31" bfg ko2s.
-new hatch lift struts
-LEDs installed in hatch for working on the tailgate.
-rear swaybar disconnect
-Front swaybar removed but included.
-OEM allen head fill and drain plugs on diffs and transfer case.
-Hell 1000FF driving lights.
The Bad:
-some body rust low in the quarters with the rear hatch being pretty bad. Damn MgCl2! frame has some surface rust but no structural.
-two trail dings from trees. (small one drivers fender on Kelly Flats and the other on passenger side rear during the 2013 floods)
-Grandpa's Hi lift not included
-very light hail. Hard to see in the pictures but in the right light it is there.
-fill plug on transfer case is stripped and is RTVed right now. (trail fix that became more long term....) T-Case could use a re-seal.
-Drivers seat outside is torn and foam is deteriorating.
-Dash just started cracking
The Good:
-it’s an fj62 with an OME lift and ARB bumper.
-interior in decent shape, headliner is near perfect. Rear seats, doors are in good shape. I passenger seat needs a cleaning but in good shape.
-passes emissions. (out of date but will get new test if staying on CO Front Range)
-gets better gas mileage than my Tundra, Sequoia, or FZJ80.
-AC works well converted to R134.
-Extra tailgate carpet in good shape(original is in good shape too)
-Extra leaf spring poly bushings.
-1 Pair of never used chains included.
-Sweet Smokey Bear vinyl window sticker included
