I have a 1979 FJ40. I am suddenly having issues with the clutch and being able to shift into 1st gear. It locks out and won't let me shift into gear. Doesn't happen all the time but about once per drive and really only when I am shifting into 1st gear. Also, from time to time, the gear shifter will slip out of gear while driving. Anyone else had this issue? Any ideas on the issue or how to resolve it? I am a tech neophyte so I really appreciate your insight. I enjoy working on it at home, so hoping to avoid a trip to the repair shop if I can avoid it.
