 Folks,

I was just going out of my driveway, and as I engaged the clutch to shift
into 1st gear, the pedal went down all the way. That the transmission didn’t
engage goes without saying. I know I was having a little leak from the
master cylinder… but the reservoir is full. How do I know where the problem
is: the master or the slave cylinder? If it could be possible to get an
answer kind of “real time” (which means f$%^ing ASAP!)… please.

:'(

Crawl under and look at your slave cly. If their is fluid dripping from around the rubber boot...bingo. Slave cyl rebuild kit is @$12.00 from rockauto.com. No sale at the slave cyl, check the master look on the fire wall inside and out for signs of fluid. Rebuild kit should be maybe a few dollars more.

You know, it seems funny to me that his reservoir is full. When I had leaks, and both the master and the slave were leaky, the reservoir drained right out. What if the piston spring broke and the piston was stuck pushed in? Could that block the reservoir from draining and impede the hydraulics?

I have a spare (brand new) master that I will install today. Also, I'll be changing the slave next week, or as soon as it can get here from JTO.

I have been advised that it is good practice to change both. So thanks to all for the replies.

:D

Hi, Do them both, the other usually for me fails soon afterward. Mike

check the pedal pivot bolt is still in the hole...
