I could not figure out why my fork would not move. So I took a picture and showed it around. Check it out.
Clutch Ball Fork 1.jpg

I took this picture to Georg at Valley Hybrid and we went to look at another 4 speed tranny off a 2F. To my surprise the ball lengths are different. The 4 speed is a little shorter and wider. Since I did a 1F to 2F swap and a 3 speed to 4 speed swap, I thought the fork balls would be the same size. My BAD!! (extremely over used phrase and I hate the expression for the record)
You know what happened when I thought I had to Fart. Well thanks to Georg I did not mess my pants, this time. If someone wants to see a picture side by side I will post later this week when I figure how to remove and replace without taking out the tranny. Any suggestions?

I think...if you take the pushrod end of the fork off of the clutch slave cylinder pushrod, you should have enough wiggle room to take the ball out.
If not, Unclip the fork from the throw-out bearing. Naturally, re-clipping the fork to the throw-out bearing with the transmission already bolted to the engine is just about as hard as pulling the transmission.

remove clutch rod ,remove bolt that holds ball turn ball to the side and remove .i have done this before the first time was the worst but not that hard good luck.

Removing and incerting new Clutch Ball

I ended up removing the long clutch ball by separating the tranny from the bell housing to get room to unscrew the clutch ball. Once removed the shorter ball should have been easier to install. But NO. Check out the difference in size of 1f/3 speed and 2f/4 speed. Also the bolt was deformed and I ended up having to take it all the way out and replace with an new bolt.

How do I get the wire Hanger back in?

Next problem is how do I get the little wire hangers back into the clutch? Here is what it looks like now.

Those clips retian the clutch fork to the throw out bearing carrier housing.

All sorts of noise and drama can result from those clips not being installed properly, failing, or, not being installed at all.

:meh:

Damn clips

Can they be installed with the tranny already mated to the motor? I'm mean it all goes together at once i understand, but the fork has to go on sometime? I have plenty of clearance to get in there and work..just wondering? I nedd these stupid clips asap! Goin to my dealer. Thx Poser!
