This last Saturday was our Spring Wrench Day at Mark Van Meter's Shop (82trekker) in Columbus, Ohio. Shop is located 5 minutes from TheRoc4x4 (http://www.theroc4x4.com) down off of Alum Creek Drive.

PhisTaco showed up first ready to tackle a day long knuckle rebuild on his 80 and got started right away followed by Onur, Tim, Vince and then lost track as everyone started tricklin' in between 9:30-10:00 a.m.

Zetasig brought his famous homemade Bratwurst and with living up in Michigan now, imagine there's not much to do all winter but back sausage casings with roadkill:flipoff2: but they were AWESOME!!! Warren, gets the MVP award for bringing the homemade grubb.

Before lunch, a few of us went over to the course at TheRoc and watched a couple guys practice for the May event. Saw the 711 UROC Buggy flip end-over-end to end up on 4 wheels and on fire.

A Avalanche Engineering Sniper was on course and ended up choosing a bad line and had to be lifted by a crane off the course.

All-in-All it was awesome to see everyone again and the final light was turned out at the shop at 9pm making for a full day. Just glad the weather was awesome and the comroderie even better.

I added a new section to the club website called "Club Graffit" and we will have a write up everytime we have a club function.

The rest of the Gallery is HERE

FOUR FIRES was the final count for the day and 2 Extinguishers...

Martys' Axle Fire

Tom Campbells' Buggy Fire

The Brush Fire by the Idiots

Then Jim C's Torchin' the Bushings...

No incidents from the Grill though :flipoff2:

Thanks again to Mark and Vince for allowing us to borrow space, time and tools. I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Thanks to Jim for all his hard work on my 60. The new rear springs are great. Now I gotta get the front done!

Kudos to Warren for the great job on the brats. They matched up nicely with the Red Hook! Did you guys finish that barrel off on Saturday night?

Cheers,

Brett

Really? Okay...

How does the third weekend of April sound? I WILL be driving that day on the course;)

Rich and I would be happy to host a wrench session at our shop in the north end of Columbus in April or early May. We have a lift and two open bays inside the shop and room to service more rigs outside in the gravel parking lot. We have running water, a bathroom, parts washer, press and most any tools we would need short of hard core fabrication work.

Who has a rig that is close to trail ride but just needs that extra push to get it together?

I'm game for that Brett and I have my buggy that's needing a huge push for the Comp on May 7th.

What I need help with is the Wiring of the Guages, The ECU and firing the motor. I can have the fab work done in 2-3 weeks from now and have it ready.

Mark

Glad to hear everyone was happy with the brats. I will get some more done in a few weeks.

Thanks to mark for letting me burn about 20 foot of welding wire. The cradle is pretty damn close to fitting as is. Just a few more touch up points, that I can handle with my grinder here.

Got my windshield back from the the glass place today, Clean, unbroken and installed. Woo Hoo.

About 3 more days of good work and It will be road worthy. I dont know about a 4 hour drive south but we will see.

Brake booster install, rear brake line hook up. seat install, seat belts. blah blah blah.

I enjoyed hanging out with you guys, Sorry I had to scoot early. I should have some more time on the next go around.

Great idea Brett.

It was a pleasure to meet you and Rich...we just gotta get him into a 60/62/80 series and he will be even cooler!! :grinpimp:

Let us know when and where?

Easter Weekend, a bunch of us are going to the Badlands in Indiana to see the new FJ Cruiser (glorified 4Runner) in action and to wheel with the Indiana folk.

Maybe early May? What does everyone think?

Pleasure to see all of you again.

Cheers.

Early May would work better for me, if that matters.

Kewl...I'm game. Just have the event on May 7th so game after that. :grinpimp:

Maybe May 13 then? Then we could still get over to Mark's in April and help get him ready for competition on the 6th & 7th. Will the May date conflict with anyone going to GSMTR? Lemme know what you think, and who's junk are we going to fix? Who's got a project that needs some free labor?
