I'm in the middle of replacing the LSPV but have discovered my new Toyota sourced LSPV has the "Forks" at the bottom (that straddle the rod under the boot) are clocked about 45 degrees off from the axis of the axle connecting rod and wont line up properly with the rear axle and forward mount of the rod.

Should the "Forks" at the bottom of the piston freely rotate or does the large nut need to be loosened?

I'd try just sticking a screwdriver in there and turning but they appear to be plastic....

Here's a pic:

It should be able to rotate, it is just a round piston , get your old one and see if it does
