I picked up a clock / inclinometer from Oz a while back and I'm finally getting around to wiring the thing.

I took it apart to figure out how to wire it and it's right as far as I can tell, but it has the same problem my stereo does - short term memory loss. It doesn't remember the time when the ignition is off.

I know that there is one wire that connects to the battery directly to power the clock while the truck is off. I have that connected. Can anyone confirm the wiring of the clock connector?

I also may not know how to set the time correctly. Should be pretty simple, but just in case there is a special procedure, does anyone know?

Thanks much.

Is it one of these?

The clock sets by turning the clock button left (hours) and right (minutes).
For the wiring, you should have the correct plug in your wiring harness, all 60 series have the same harness. It might not be in the correct location though, since the inclinometers were mostly for RHD trucks. Check behind the speedo, that's where I found mine. I just cut it off, elongated the wires, and fused the plug back in, and it works perfectly, including the memory.

This is a sharp instalation dude .. ! congrats ..

Jan,

Thanks for the info. I figured that there should be a connector somewhere, but couldn't find it. That would make things much easier. Too bad I already cut off the clock's connector.

I don't understand your directions for setting the time. Are talking about the clock/inclinometer or the stereo? My clock has three buttons that appear to be push only. They are H (hour), M (minute), and SET. The only turnable knobs are to calibrate the inclinometers. Could you explain?

I was probably thinking about the clock in my BJ70, there it is a turn knob.
on the inclinometer, try to push the set button, and at the same time the hour or min button, that should advance the number by one.
I'll check on mine...

cheers,
Jan

Thanks guys. I figured it out.

I had two wires revered.

OK, so what did you figure out? Here is what I have, Red - bat +, black/green - ground, green/green - lights, blue - + when ign acc/on.

This works, but the lights don't dim.

Figured it out. the black/green wires need to be split up and the black to ground and the green to the reastat side of inst. lighing

It should have read " I had two wires reversed".

I had the red and blue swapped.

Jan - Never did find the connector you were talking about. I tore the whole dash apart looking for it. I don't think my harness has it.

However that wouldn't be the first electrical oddity I've found either. Mine's an 8/87 and Toyota apparently started making FJ-62 harness changes before the end of FJ-60 production. Getting parts is a real PITA since they could be for either model.
