Clip & Pin for Brake Shoes? (1 Viewer)

I took apart my 1969 (9mm brake lines)rear brakes apart to inspect and clean up the cylinders. Cleaned up cylinders and decided to swap for 10mm cylinder. Did a front disk conversion earlier.
So here is the picture. Why don't I have the clip and pin (looks like a nail) to hold the brake shoes in place? BTW there is no hole in back plate for pin. Should I drill a hole and put a pin in place?

Keep both springs on the back side of the brake shoes and don't worry about it.
