but not like the one in cabron's thread. mine has only done it a couple of times, sounds like the cicking a flasher makes. did it again tonight. only notice it when i shut it off...everything appears to work fine. no pattern to the clicking's repetitiveness.

any ideas.

the Solenoid for the crab fan kicking on and off? I know my rig does it rather fast somtimes. I think it might be a bad ground. You can hear it click inside the truck alot but outside you just hear the fan..

saw your article in TT tonight. ...cool

where is the solenoid? i've got the timer bypassed cause the fan wasn't kicking on, it's just on a toggle right now. i know the wire are running direct off battery with inline fuse...i think i plugged in at the fan itself (oem connector)

There's two locations of Carb Cooling Fan 'relays'....
there's a tiny one inside a black box 'behind' right kick panel; it controls a somewhat larger relay behind the left kick panel. Thew relay on the left actually controls the volts to the fan. the little relay on the right controls the relay on the left...

Ya understand, 'right',,,,? anything 'left' out ?....:)

i thought the one on the right was a timer also...that's currently bypassed

If you haven't all ready, disconnect the wire from manifold temp sensor so it doesn't trigger the computer.

Hm, if you're doing it manually, it might even be possible to use the timer but bypass the fan computer. So you won't have to keep track of it.

But then if the computer is clicking, then it's working.

uh boy, you sure you don't want to just get the whole thing working right?

.

i would like to have it working right, but i think the issue is the timer and that's $$$

i've already checked the wire to the sensor, it was good, so i swiped a timer off treeroot's junked 60...it worked great....for about two months, then wouldn't kick the fan on again.

ok, still have the carb fan "disconnected"... not driving the waggie all that much...drove it today and it was normal to work, from work to machine shop, from machine shop to coop, from coop to work, but from work back home, pulled in driveway and the clicking was going crazy!...will try to pull the kick panel this week and figure out the relay for carb fan to disconnect as it's definitely in the left kick panel area. was clicking for close to a minute and fast.

????s are...
if it's clicking, would that indicate the relay is good?

why doesn't it do it all the time?...it drove three times farther from work to machine shop and from coop to work than it did from work to home...why wouldn't the cooling relay click like crazy then. i live a few miles from work, so it barely makes op temps by them time i'm home, and it was four plus hours sitting before i drove it.

Your wife pissed at ya???

C4 is cheap through russian connections...

x2 my wires loose on the sensor and it does that till it makes up its mind to stay on or off

(timebomb)

:boom:

i was wondering who's wife you're asking about....i hope not me cause i'm not a lesbo.

what does the relay on the left kick panel look like? i've only got an emissions module and up under the dash some weird breakers or something along with the flasher

i'll let it slide if you make the da%$ clicking go away :D

Wish I could, I am not all that good with stock 60 parts..

ok, clicking is definitely coming from flasher relay (green item in second picture above).

does this spell impending doom?

Clicking from the flasher relay means it's time to open it up and clean it out. Mine did that for a while before I figured out what it was. We can open it up on Saturday while I'm there, if you want. It's a completely mechanical device. I don't remember exactly what I did, but it seemed pretty obvious at the time. :)
