Can one clean fuel injectors without sending them off?

One of my broke buddies is wanting to cheap out on buying 6 injectors?

Thanks D

well, since you can supposedly clean your injectors by putting some solvent in your tank, one would think that it should be possible if you can find the right solvent (and pay attention to not damaging whatever non-metal parts are on the thing maybe).

maybe as simple as buying Chevron Pro gard techron stuff at costco and using it straight? no idea if that would be safe to do, though...

Search YoTube, plenty of videos on home injector cleaning

i did it a while ago, (not on my landcruiser) you remove the little filters on the inlet and all o rings, i left it in a bucket of Lucus fuel injector cleaner, then I pulsed the injectors with a 5v battery. then install new filters and seals.

Was it worth it? I mean, do you feel like you saved money, or just wasted time?

I had mine out. cleaned and flow tested, $120 while I waited. Got to actually watch the testing/cleaning. IMO well worth the money to know they are all good after 145k miles. Peace of Mind cost money.

X2

There is no way to know what each injector is flowing without bench testing after cleaning.

these folks are retired and on a very fixed income so $120 is a lot of money to them, other wise I would be telling them to buy new ones..
I am going to spend some time this weekend working on their car to see if I can get it going on the cheap. Give this thing a presidential fixing....
