Bad Ass Pat. I like the open caps on the rear as well. just seems right :).
I'm kinda glad the rear cap won't cover the ff hubs. Front caps look pretty cool on there

Those look great. I’m glad you picked those yokos!
I'm looking forward to how they hold up. "Made in Japan" is appropriate I think.

Pat @SipLife is asking if the rear hub cap opening is the same as the front to accommodate the FF axle.

It is. It is just a front cap on the rear.

I do have to mod the caps to fit on the Wheel Vintiques wheel. I will cover that as soon as I finish doing the work.

I think they look amazing! Love the tire choice as well

I'll mirror comments that the caps revealing the FF rear looks amazing...
I was figuring that fronts would work exactly like that.

One thing I can say about the stink bug of that lift is that people I know have used
different size anti-inversion shackles with bigger up front and smaller on back to compensate
and remove a bit of that.

Thanks buddy, I appreciate it very much. I'll keep the shackle idea in mind. I went down the list of items planned for the truck with Cruiser Outfitters like diesel, expo bumpers, winch, etc, but I also was figuring for some gear weight. They did warn me that if it needed anything it would be to pull a leaf out of the rear. I don't want to but will if need be. It's a long way from done so not gonna sweat it yet.

Here is the rundown on how to make the Wheel Vintiques wheel work with stock FJ40 hubcaps.

First you have to carve the inner shell out of the oem cap. I made a slit in the backer with a cutoff wheel, being careful to not cut the outer cap.

Then you roll it out of the lip in the outer half

The new inner is a Wheel Vintiques "baby moon" cap. It has to have the dome cut off of it. I left about an eighth inch above the edge. It is pretty easy with a cut off saw, just be safe with that sucker!

Apologies for blurry shots. I hate that on a phone because I can't see it on the small screen!

Now you center the inner part on the outer and tack weld it in the parts of the cap that are painted black, that way you can repaint the front after it gets burned off.

My tig welding sucks bad but I can make it hold.

The front still needs paint but they go on there

I am pretty sure the first place I saw the idea to use a front cap on the back was on Tucker @cruiserfj08 's FJ40 that he and @roma042987 restored. It was like that when I saw it at Solid Axle Summit 2.

Absolutely awesome read, if you haven't already.

I needed another floor bracket for the split rear seats. I have one so at least it makes a good template. I tackled it today. Not perfect but came out pretty well I think. I will let pictures tell the story. I started with one of my hooks we use in the powder coating shop.

I coated it in green because that is what color one of the guys was doing and I used it as a primer, then sanded some ugly out before finishing both in satin black.

Wow the finished product is nothing like I would have guessed looking at the first couple photos. Great fab work.
