What Tmax said.

would some time around the labor day long weekend work? i was planning to head that way anyway.

I could do that- will be at sea for the next while...

Before or during the weekend is most likely doable for me. Have to work on the Tuesday though.

There are some people interested from other clubs. It's on the Four Wheel Drive Assoc. crackbook page. If those who are organizing the road repair can post details there as well, you should be able to get some extra hands to help dig.

Road repair? I'm sure as soon as the net says impassable ,there will be guys going trip specific to get through, not just doing a weekend drive. I'm sure they'll have a more time for a detailed report. The part about could be quad able makes for a lot of debate on between what is impassable is not necessarily impossible.

That's what I thought, kind of a big waist of gas if it can't be done by hand . Thanks for your input on the reality of doing it by hand.

checking it out is the starting point. if its doable, great. if not, there are plenty of area before that can be enjoyed for a few days of camping and and such. like i said before, i was planning to head that way anyway.

its very hard to say by the pictures. i would say unless its really steep, there should be a way to make a path and drive through.

i think a few pry bars like you got could be very handy. its too bad i cant get my ass in gear and get the monster mog going with dozzer blade and crane.

Maybe I'll see you up there! If not, I'll just blame in on the :princess: or my not getting my truck back in shape in time. I guess just keep us posted.

Looking at the slide slope, it may be a waste of gas to open it up even if you have heavy machinery to do the work. There is nothing holding that slope back. Another big rain fall or just a usual spring melt will likely keep it coming down.

John, that trail has been like that for the past 10 years (that I know of and likely longer), so fixing it is worth it. It's an important connector as well a great destination. When fixed it might collapse again but so could countless other trails.

From the pic it looked like quite a long section. I have no doubt it is a nice route, one that some day I'd like to drive. All I know is what I saw in the pics and that slope does not look at all stable. But as was pointed out, pics don't tell the whole story. It does look like shale. Shale usually also has bentonite clay which is a great lube when it gets water saturated. If this is the case, the best thing to do is to insert drainage pipe into the bentonite layer so it does not get water saturated. At least that is what was done around Princeton. You actually drive by a couple spots like that when you go through Princeton.

the plan is only one day old. i'm sure there will be many updates and perhaps changes to what might happen.
