Finally I bought 2009 LX 570 with 120k miles on it. I had it inspected at local Lexus dealership. They did multi point inspection and OBD diagnostic. It came out clean. Now I would like to know a good independent mechanic in Chicago preferably in Northwest suburbs. I would like to make sure everything is well taken care of from now on wards. Not sure taking it to Dealer or to a local mechanic shop because of the concerns around the expertise. Any referrals greatly appreciated!

I recommend my mechanic Tony at BUR AUTO in Addison, IL. He has always taken care of me. We did rip out AHC, installed my Super Charger and later iForce motor on my LX470 among many other modifications. On my 200 we did Icon coilovers and a few other light modifications.

Thanks. I will give him a try. While it's not far, but it's 45 minute ride each way.

Bredemann Toyota in Park Ridge is great. They're obviously not independent but they do a good job and have been trustworthy

Having living in the Chicago area until I was about 24 years old, my only advice is... LEAVE.

That's exactly how I long I have been living in Chicagoland area. Don't know whether moving to better pastures happens or not. Loved Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Arizona, California in my travels. Hope to settle in one of those states...

He is 30 mins away from me but he saved me a ton on repairs. We did my radiator last week for $120 labor and $380 for Toyota part. I have an alert to change batteries every 22 months, as they repeatedly die in 23-25 months for me on both 100/200.

Good to know. I am a proactive guy and generally dealerships take a ride on such folks... I need someone who won't build their own Land cruiser on my service bills!

I am living in Northern California right now. The politics are ridiculous, people are ignorant, and there are many other drawbacks. However, the weather and natural beauty is absolutely amazing. If they don't figure something out about the housing crisis though, I won't stay. I have also lived in Texas for about 10 years. It is flat, hot and windy, and has lots of chain restaurants and shopping. I think I am also still searching... Chicago though? Yes, moving to better pastures is absolutely a thing. Any of those places you mentioned are much better. As a car/bike guy, I got tired of the road salt rusting out destroying my vehicles.
