I have a 1978 fj40 and i want to cover the dash with checker plate. how would i do this and would it be a big job. are all the switches easly removed.
and does any1 have a pic of a checker plate dash
thank you.

Son, you'll be a lot happier with a Jeep.

you'd have to cut out all the dash and just replace it with the checker plate. more work then its worth to make the dash uglier although "to each his own" but you may be going down the wrong path... just puy the checker plate, cut it, drill a couple hole and replace the guages...

my dash was all rusty and then even had bondo on it then it was painted over by the PO, at that point it was to hard for me to redo the metal work so i just replaced it with a wooden dash... although my vehicle is far from stock and far from pretty

didnt they use checker plate on old new york taxis
