:hmm:gutless, hard on fuel, head cracking issues ...
yep, i am sure you are right.

The 3L engine is a relentless workhorse.

still looks the same as when it came in, we are ironing out the small details before finally making the plunge.
come and go for a drive.
could your iron out the small details of this troopy mate;), maybe you could borrow the factory forwards facing rear seat

Hmm...have to disagree. I more or less grown up with the 3L engine. Used very commonly in hilux single cab trucks. I have never heard of a head crack or it being hard on fuel. They basically go on forever with the correct maintenance.

By the way, we are talking about the 2.8 litre Diesel engine here? As designated by toyota as 3L.

You were talking the 3.0litre engine.

nope, the 3L (2.8L)
the same head is used as an "upgrade" on the 2LTE engines when the original head cracks. these replacement heads are now cracking as well, usually within 2 years of replacement.
note: there is the rare exception

you have experience in your land, this is out experience here in Canada.

cheers

So are you refering to the 3L engine as a whole or just the head being tranplanted to a 2LT engine cos the original cracked?

the bottom end of the '*L' series engines are USUALLY very tough ... it is the head design that is the issue.
