I think I may be better off just biting the bullet and buying either Metal Tech fenders or replacements. What do you guys think? This thing is almost total bondo.

I'll third that.

It'll cost you more in time to fix those than it will in dollars to replace them.

Especially with the common rust spot in the middle of the bottom picture.

Not to be contrary, but I have seen much worse. As long as they aren't rusted through, just sand off the rust fill them, finish sand and you are done. Nothing wrong with Bondo as long as it is thin and applied properly over clean metal.

True, but nothin' wrong with Metal Techs fenders...if those pics are enough to make you bite the bullet...then bite it!

cut'n'weld, or fiberglass.
i'd run em'
unless your shooting for a resto job.

Just run 'em....

you will smash 'em up soon enough...better to learn on them, than something that is new and strait.

grind off the bondo apply long hair fiberglass filler on top. file with a rasp while soft (40 minutes or so) to shape. Apply skim of bondo. Sand smooth. prime paint. save big dough. when that goes buy new ones. If you prep them right they will last a long time. Those fenders look like they have alot o good metal in em. I would check the top of the fender above the brace because from the look of whats been done it might be rotted through. If it is chuck em. if not see above. grind em down and post another pic

They'll make great sliders. I wouldn't have any problem laying those beauties into a rock. Put a little paint back on them and nobody has to know!

This is the philosophy I'm going with.

Whats the big deal my right front had 1/8 to 1/4 inch of bondo covering the entire thing just go with it, adds character.
