Hello all just ran a few erronds this am and started up the LC and the check engine light came on, I know this could mean a ton of different things, should I take it to a dealership or what. I dont have a manual to look in to see what some of the problems could be? I am taking it down to Advance Auto to plug a diagnostic tester in to see what that says.

Ok the vehicle scan at Advance said that O2 sensor CKT slow response ,so I guess thats the problem

I guess so? I just sent cruiserdan a PM to see what the sensors cost...etc

I thought the P0420 code was for insufficient catalytic converter efficiency. Having the number and not just the description really helps the diagnosis of what is going wrong. Pull the EFI fuse to reset the MIL/CEL and see if it comes back. If it doesn't, don't sweat it. If it does, get ahold of a FSM and go through the diagnostic procedures for that code/sensor. There are very detailed steps to test the different sensors before you start throwing money at the truck. Also, if you have the code numbers, run a search here, as there are sure to me MANY threads of possible fixes for whatever is wrong.

Ill search ! I havent been able to find anything yet. Thanks for the info guys

converter...maybe...EGR..most likely

The codes for Cat Converters and EGr are related via exhaust gas emmission. The EGR systems are prone to stopping up. The large fitting on the back of the EGR valve can be loosened and cleaned with some effort.

Mine had excessive stoppage that was cleaned good enough to turn off the light with this procedure. I now see during removal of the intake to do the HG deluxe job that the EGR port on the intake was completely stopped up.

Good Luck!
