Being a poor recent college grad, I have plenty of time on my hands, but not much cash flow. I got a 69 FJ40 and was wondering what is the cheapest V8 conversion available? I have plenty of access to rebuildable V8's, but need to be able to keep the cost on the conversion to a minimum. Any suggestions?

If cost is a major consideration,
Make the f last as long as possible and save.
It is always a bad idea to skimp when doing a motor swap..
That being said, most of the cost can be aleviated with sweat..
how good are you at fabbing stuff?

350 sm465 tlc 3speed did mine for under a grand
used conversion parts?
just a suggestion, i believe a few have changed setups and i personally have two complete conversion setups, and trans and transfers i am not using. But are not currently for sale.
v8 to stock 4 or 3 speed is pretty easy, v8 gm auto is pretty cheap. watch the for sale boards, or ebay, or ask here for conversion parts from others.
or all gm and run a 205 converted to offset output. or gm with centered rear.
