That's the guy from Malaysia. He makes fender flares also. There are a few threads on these. Seems like a knock off of the Safari snorkel.

See here...

I see.... That seems like not such a good deal now....

Just playing the devils advocate here. But that site does not seem like an independent, third party site. It is registered to the same company that safarisnorkel.com is registered to. Plus the link that sticks out on the safarisnorkel.com homepage seems suspicious.

That said, it does look like good info and the laboratory results seem legit.

It's not. It's Safari's attempt to get you not to buy a knock off snorkel.

So you mean the science is junk (or false), and SS is just trying to scare people away from the Chinese copies, or you agree the copies are crap ?

My experience with Chinese (not Taiwanese) copies of anything is not good...

No, I mean it's not an independent third party website.

The science is probably true and if I were losing market share to some guy in Malaysia who hand molds these things I'd be pissed and I'd come up with some science to steer people away too.

Can someone who's actually bought one of these chime in?

I may be able to do just that after she's outa the shop...

Hi All:

I just gotta ask - why do you need a snorkel in the first place?

I've driven my FJ40 through deep water in mud holes, across raging creeks, etc. without issue.

The reality is driving through rivers will soon be a thing of the past here in the USA. EPA rigs make this taboo.

Regards,

Alan

The air is cleaner a little higher up ;) and it looks pretty bad ass to boot ;)

I use my snorkel every day. I live on a dirt road here in AZ. and my snorkel allows me to go 6 to 8 months between air filter changes, whereas before I had to change a clogged filter every 1.5 months. I was really surprised how well it works for dust.

As for the government banning river crossings here in the US. I say good luck enforcing that one.:flipoff2:

I built my snorkel out of carbon fiber myself and bought one of the chinese copy heads made out of PTFE. From what I had researched, the snorkel copies made out of PTFE were of similar quality as the Safari ones. The fiberglass copies are junk from what I read.

Here is a link to my thread on how to build your own. This one was on my 60 but the process would be the same for any cruiser. https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/485105-diy-homemade-carbon-fiber-snorkel.html
