Could the lower valve (BVSV?) on the thermostat housing be leaking coolant? I'm chasing a coolant leak, and cleaned up the residue last night and trying to see if it's just running down from a leaking hose or something. Those little valves are like $50!

Thanks

Cardinal-I had exactly that issue-the little valve would collect coolant and I couldn't see a leak any where else. I was about to replace the valve, but first replaced the thermostat, gasket and the bypass hose. On inspection the bypass hose had those cracks that old rubber gets and was the source of the leak. I would look at the hoses first, since they are cheap and likely need replacement anyway. You can always replace the valve if that doesn't fix the problem.
