I am changing the clutch in my 1970 FJ40 next month and I figured since I'm going to be under there, I should do the parking brake. Is the easiest/cheapest route to just keep it stock? I read some people move theirs to the rear. If I keep it stock what are all of the parts I will need? If I keep it stock, does that preclude me form a future rear disc setup? I need to know every part because I'm not ripping this open twice and any advice on changing it that a shop manual may not have. Thanks

You can keep the stock e-brake even if you go to disc brakes. I believe it's when one upgrades to a later model split Tcase that only had rear e-brakes integrated with the discs.

One thing I learned on the Tcase e-brake is that the aftermarket brake shoes were too big to allow the drum to slide over, so I went with OEM shoes. YMMV.
