Has anyone changed the factory 12v head lights to 24v on a CA spec BJ42?
I've had as much fun as I can stand trying to get this system to work properly.
What was Toyota thinking when they designed this?

Cheers,
Colby

do you have the toyota manual? The wiring diagram should help you out immensely. I had to completely redo all the headlight wiring in my 42 as the po had installed his own special lights and had a brief problem with the lights not grounding properly, but I followed the manual and removed all the bugs. I love the 24v lights, but it does take some patience to crack the problems of burning out headlams. Use your multimeter as much as possible and check all grounds and continuity the whole way through...stick with it, the 12 volt lights on the 24v system are so much brighter than a 12v on 12v.

`cheers, MAx

I'm gonna jerk the 12v stuff and convert it to 24v to elimate any future problems....

24V headlight selection is very limited, nothing like 12V....never mind trying to find someone who stocks 24V headlights if you are off the beaten track.

We switched my brothers HJ60 over to 24V headlights. Solved all of his electrical issues. i can't remember the specifics. It was goofy if I recall. A couple more relays then we thought.

24V lights are nice. Lots of power to fry bunnies at 100yards.

I will try and find a wiring diagram. I think I got it off of the old DTLC list.

Colby,

I'm in Fort Worth and I have the manual.
Are you nearby? Or, can you make it to a Lone Star meeting?

I recently swapped out the stock 24v bulbs for the over-wattage ones recommended in an earlier post. Together with new buckets and lenses, and AIMED VERY WELL, the low beams are superior to anything I've ever seen, even HID. The high beams are ridiculous...turn night into day.

The increased amperage is small given the 24volt config, and this alone makes them superior to the 12v...which could melt wires if bumped up.

another diagram ????

Anyone got a diagram to rewire the 12V lights on a canadian 42 to 24V ? would the diagram above be the same as far as the old wiring inputs or do they differ because of the way the canadian 42's are wired compared to the german version which already had 24V lights?? Anybody????
