I just picked up 3 new OEM Toyota belts and want to know the easiast way to get them on - dealer wants $150.00 (OUCH!!) to install them. Any help is appreciated!! - Tim

take off lower skid, and loosen tinsoners. ots a 1 banana job. good luck

Sort of agree with sc40. Getting the alternator loose is a bit of a pain. THere is a lock bolt and a tensioner bolt. The lock bolt has sloping sides so it is easy to strip, and hard to turn because of it's placement. Once loose, you work the belts around the fan and onto the pullies. Unless tensioner bolt is completely unscrewed it is difficult to remount the belts. The A/C belt is easier. I sure wouldn't pay Toyota $150 to do it-that's most of the cost of a knuckle rebuild kit from Cruiserdan, wich is another service you probably need.

Removing and replacing the lower skidplate is not needed and nearly doubles the amount of time on this project. There's plenty of data if you search, I know I've posted multiple times on not needing to remove the skidplate - there's a hole in it for A/C tensioner bolt access.

It takes less than 5 minutes to take the skid plate off. It made it a lot easier for me and I believe it more than made up the 5 minutes. But thst my opinion

I agree, it is much much much easier without the skid plate. It will save you time and aggravation. Although there is a hole in the skid plate that you can go through, I think it is %100 easier without the skid plate. There is no reason to leave the skid plate on when it takes less than 5 minutes to remove it and re install it. You need to remove one side of the steering stabilizer as well. Also, DO NOT REMOVE THE FAN CLUTCH. The belts can be put on with the fan still attached. Remember to loosen the tensioner completely on the AC belt because that makes it easier to remove and install the belt. Good luck.

anyone know if the AC pulley size and location would be the same on a '93 and '94 if so do they use the same belt? i am am asking because i don't know if toyota used the same compressor when they went to 134.

thanks.

Why's that? I didn't have to do this when changing out my belts.
