I have just had my diff lock problems investigated and have been told by the mechanic this lunch time that the Centre Diff Loock actuator has had it. Evidently all the gears are all mashed, and he tells me that a conversation with a Toyota dealership costs the part at £560 pounds sterling, I am not sure whether this was with VAT added or not but I will also need a new centre diff lock switch as well, he thinks at £40 to £60 not sure which. He has offered to arrange that I can operate the axle locks without the centre lock operating while I source a replacement actuator and recover from the shock of needing a mortgage for such a small part.
I have tried to find a part by emailing lots of breakers in the UK with little success so far, but have noticed that prices for tyres (tires), fuel, cars, in fact everything appears much cheaper in the US
Questions.
Are all centre diff lock actuators on 80 Landcruisers the same regardless of age?
Are there Breakers in the US that would ship it out to the UK?
Any suggestions for breakers?
This is a long shot, does any member just have one sitting around looking for a change in nationality $$ probably not but I am asking in any case!?
