I had my 2008 LC detailed a while back and just now noticed that every other button on the navigation/climate control unit is not working and some reason now the volume on the radio is very low.

I looked through all the obvious fuses, but don’t see anything blown. Any obvious places to look, or is this indicative of a bigger issue?

Sounds like an inappropriate cleaner was too liberally sprayed on the buttons during the detail work. Liquid seeped behind the buttons, and now it has dried and is interrupting the proper functioning of the affected buttons.

Short of complete disassembly and cleaning, if it were me, I'd try spraying some residue-free electronics component cleaner around the edges of the malfunctioniong buttons while exercising them. Let the cleaner dry and see if function is improved.

NOTE: Proceed with this entirely at your own risk.

Maybe something like this which is safe for use on plastcs:

What made it unusual, was that it was uniform, exactly every other button. That was why I was expecting a fuse.

I’d be hesitant to use something like due to the possibility of it reacting with the plastic.

"Plastic Safe" printed on the can not good enough for you?

no dice....still leaning in direction of a fuse [potentially inside headhunt] due to uniformity on buttons not working. Thanks for thinking about this issue though.

Don't know what year you have but my '14 had weird button issues. Not entering or double entry. It ended up being a corroded ribbon cable in the display unit from a liquid spill by the prior owner.

It wouldn't be for "soft touch" plastics used on some car interiors. They have enough problems with oils from our skin.

Fortunately none of those that I can think of in our 200s.. but other cars have plenty of it.
