Wifey, just got back from the grocery store. I noticed on the drivers side that both center caps have been stolen AGAIN!

This is the second time this has happened, and we've only had the Cruiser a little over a year.

Now I'll be back on e-bay trying to locate a couple to restore. At least I already have the paint. Sheeeeeesh, I think I'll just take the other two off and leave it that way.

Buddy of mine, who lives in Baltimore, had the same issues with his cars parked on the street in front of his house. His theory was that the theives were "marking" a car as not having anything worth stealing. Saved them time looking at the same cars all the time. That was his theory anyway...never proved it one way or the other of course....

I guess I can see that in Baltimore, but we live in the country 20 miles outside a sleeply little college town of 28,000. There's not but a handful of 80's in town.

And what is the deal with just taking two (why not all four). They must be easy to sell.....(in fact, I'm looking for a couple now).

If you want a couple shiny, non-OEM chromed plastic ones with a raised Lexus "L" on them if you're interested. I'm sure you could pull the "L" off if you didn't want the bling.

I pulled them off of a Lexus at the mal... ;)

They were on my rig when I bought it. PM me if you're interested.

Why buy on ebay when you can get locally stolen stuff at the flea market. Ebay is to petty theft what money laundering is to the mob.

Some folks would steal only two because that is all they need. Put later wheels on an earlier cruiser and you only use them on the back wheels--the front has the hub sticking out. Just a thought.

Actually the ebay centercap racket is fairly successful:rolleyes: (THIS IS ONLY MY THEORY based upon available information) There is a guy in LA who posts the same pics all the time. When you bid on the item and win, he goes out and steals them. If you check his feedback everyone comments about how long it takes him to respond and ship the items. Sure, he has tons of orders to fill and has to find the vehicles first to score the caps.
