CDL aside, yep, need the part time 4wd conversion. With 35s, my turning radius is horrible. I drove alongside another 80 with 37s and he was able to turn a much tighter circle with the part time kit.
Part time kit has nothing to do with turning radius šŸ˜
 
This noted situation per the OP has only been a problem for me once. I have the CDL mod and a properly marked CDL switch. Like the OP mentioned above, my daughter when she was little pressed the CDL button while I was outside the car. I got in, started the car, and when I attempted to turn within the parking lot I felt the classic difficult turning of the wheel and binding drivetrain. I thought WTH? Then I figured it out a moment later; I turned off the switch and carried on. Otherwise this has never been a problem (like for most of us apparently). My GF is the only other driver of my 80, and she is well-schooled. I imagine this could possibly be an issue if I loaned the 80 to my brother-in-law...
