CEL came on this a.m. on the way to work.

I've been searching for 20 minutes and can't find what I want to know, so yes, I searched and got a laundry list of folks who've said, "hey, that paperclip thing worked for me!"

The only instructional thread I found was for a '94. I usually can search w/ better results. I didn't see anything in the FAQ either.

So my question is, Is the process the same for my '96 as far as using a paperclip to pull the CEL code? (TE1 and E1 terminal jump)

Thanks for any help!

93-94 uses OBD I (paperclip)

Some 95s use I, some use II

96-97 uses OBD II, so you need a code reader or get AutoZone, etc. to check.

No, Paper clip is for OBDI, 95 and up are OBDII you need a code reader. I have an actron I am happy with as just a code reader, there is also laptop software some of which can go deeper.

some parts stores will pull codes for free,

I would not e surprised if you get a p0401 code.

That's what I thought.

Anyone used Alex Peper's software for the LC's?

I used his program on my Chev and was really happy. It's $122.00 for the program and cable AVAILABLE HERE.

Thanks all,
Polak
