So took my 2005 LX470 for emissions test yesterday and didn't pass because the car failed the 'idiot test': after you put the key in and turn it once, the check engine light (CEL) should come on for a few seconds and then -if everything is ok - disappear. The problem is that my CEL light never comes on!

All OBD codes are fine, ECU reports ok etc... The car drives wonderfully (just like she did in the past). I tried replacing the 7.5A fuse (on the right hand side) for CEL light but that didn't help. So basically looks like the actual CEL bulb/led is somehow busted. Any ideas if it's replaceable on 2005 model year or any other suggestions?

On my ‘03 LX it’s a soldered in LED, so probably the same on your ‘05. Not too hard to do for someone with electronic soldering skills, if the LED is the problem. The EWD suggests checking the voltage at the ECU, connector E, pin 11.
