CDL question (1 Viewer)

I've got the CDL switch installed, with 7 pin mod, but here is a question that I have not seen addressed: I'm assuming that, as long as the road is not dry and/or hard, that I can press the CDL switch on the fly, i.e. while the vehicle is rolling. Is this correct? Last winter there were times that I would have liked to lock the center diff in the middle of some slick stuff where my 80 began to slip and slide.
