I have done alot of reading in here and I know the 6 Disc changer in my 2000 LC was bound to bust sooner or later.. Now it did.. I dont mind going aftermarket but I have not seen any threads where the CD's are stuck inside the unit?? Is there an easy way to remove them without cracking open the unit itself? The eject/load button no longer funcitons..

Thanks in advance..

BFH.....

I would not go with a reman one either, mine is less that two months old and has issues again!

Oh and welcome to Mud!

If you have already tried holding down the eject button for approx 10 seconds and/or resetting the unit by removing the radio fuse, then its safe to say that you have sacrificed your cherished tunes to the CD gods ;p

I have held the eject button for what feels like 10 minutes.. lol.. I have not tried yanking the fuse but will do so.. Hmmm, where is it located???

This link might interest some of you - Found it looking for a replacement oem radio for my Camry.

Lexus CD player repair shop on ebay

I noticed that they promise to recover your trapped CDs.

Hey Vito,
I have the same problem with my 2000. I am taking my unit out this weekend, since it's shot already I will not leave my cds inside. I'll post on my success or failure at recovering my cds.
Now all I have to do is decide on what aftermarket unit to install.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks fog.. Looking forward to your results! I actually almost bought the eclipse unit, expensive but it is very sweet...

Crack'er open and rescue your CD's. No point in refurb. Go for a new one, technology is much more advanced and prices are pretty reasonable. I'm not much into electronic installs. I ususally have an stereo shop do the work for me. (being red-green color blind leads to too many cooked head units).

OK.. I took out the unit and was wondering whats the best way to crack it open without major damage incase I want to put it back in one day..

Update.. unscrewed some screws and yanked em out.. doubt the cd changer will ever work again since I have leftover springs..lol

My LX has the same problem with ejecting some (not all) CD's. All I do is hit the face of the stereo with either my fist or base of my palm and it will spit it out. Sometimes a few hits are in need.

In my opinion the LX in dash cd changer is a POS!

Same problem here, I was able to get a new cd changer unit inside my radio cost me about $175 to fix, search the net and you will find people who can do it...good luck....disappointing Toyota used such a inferior radio unit on the LC
