So,
I bought the Cobra WXST II and am in the market for an Antenna, cables, and mount, which leads to 2 questions:
1.) I want to mount the antenna to the stock bumper by replacing one of the studs under the turning light, Anyone done that, or know which mount would work best?
2.) I am looking at the Firestick antenna kit 4 foot, is that the correct height, or does it need to be shorter/longer? My understanding is that the length of the Antenna is a very important factor.

Thank you in advance

Sam

I went with a 4' wilson with a tuneable tip and mounted it to the tire carrier on the drivers side of the truck. Seems to work just fine for my needs. I didn't want one that stuck too far above the rrof line as it's hard enough parking this truck in a parking garage now let alone an antenna sticking anothe 12" above it. And tuning the antenna is the most important thing in the install.

I'll second the wilson tuneable tip recommedation. I went with the 36 inch mounted to the roof rack. I used the supplied wilson grounding wire and attached it to one of the roof rack screws. Grounding it made a huge difference in performance. Because of the height I get excellent performance and it was easy to tune. However, if I'm in the woods I switch to a rubber flexible 18 inch antenna. The shorter works great to talk between rigs on a group wheeling trip but range is limited to about 1 mile.
