My suggestion is do the carb yourself, with help from us. If you get so far as to mail it out, then it should be cake to rebuild for most people.

Get the kit and do it yourself, it's not too bad. Was one of the first things I did when I first got my Cruiser.
Be methodical about where parts came from - lay things out if you need to. Carb cleaner spray and a gallon can of carb dip is about all you need.
Be careful with springs and balls - they can get lost.
