8/'77 fully smogged cali spec 40 with original carb
I've recently rebuilt the carb but I've had some idle issues and only pulling 15mmhg of vac at idle. I couldn't find a vac leak.
I sent the rig to my mechanic for a smoke machine test. He called me and says the smoke is "billowing out" of both throttle plate shafts on both sides. Carb cleaner jetted right on the shaft does make the idle jump, etc
QUESTIONS:
1)
Can the shafts be resealed with new bushings? Who does this?
2)
Would an aftermarket carb (@Trollhole , @Racer65, etc) be an option?
My understanding is that if I want to keep the rig smog legal, these would not be an option.
3) is there an aftermarket carb that will allow me to keep the rig smog legal?
Thanks!!
